Sophos antivirus configure updating greyed out
You may need to click on it or find the downloaded file and double-click on it.
You will see a dialog box with a progress bar as the files are extracted.

Sophos generally pops up status messages from the shield to alert you to problems, as well as to confirm that Sophos is running properly.
These instructions are primarily for people who want to install the Sophos software onto their personal laptop and/or desktop.
This may make it easier to see when Sophos is running normally or whether there are any problems.
I also tried navigating to the \Sophos Update\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP share and re-installing, which it attempts to do, but also fails.
Then I tried uninstalling the AV, Auto Update and Remote Management System from Programs and Features, but either it tells me it's still in the middle of another install (the failed Sophos update) or else, (after a reboot), it tells me I have insufficient privileges to uninstall the software!
I noticed a little while ago that my Sophos Anti-Virus Endpoint wasn't updating.
I tried right clicking and "Update now", which fails.
